Col Du Mille

I recently had the opportunity to go and explore the Col Du Mille, a big day on the bike with an initial climb of over 1000 meters. I wanted to give a big thanks to Verbier Tourism and Trek Sweden for making the trip possible, seeing the Swiss alps in their autumn colours is a special experience. More on this to come!

Joacim Lundgren - Taberg Dalen

Joacim Lundgren recently dropped by the studio as he was in the area filming for his latest upcoming video project, he wanted to try out some of the trails which I have been working on in the area. In collaboration with the region I’m utilising my industry experience to utilise a disused area of hillside within the old mining area to create a community led trail building association, the first trail is near completion and so we Joacim came to test it.

On the topic of trail building a destinations, September 1st-2nd I will be in Järvsö for the MTB conference presented by Cykelfrämjandet, both documenting the event but I will also be delivering a talk on destination marketing in regards to mountain biking and how destinations can work to find their own USP. I look forward to meeting up with many folk from within the industry based in Scandinavia.

Velomore - In the Field: Sharp Eye

Screenshot of interview with Cycling photographer Christopher Lanaway that was featured in Danish cycling magazine Velomore.

Earlier this year I sat down with Danish journalist Thomas Søderup to talk about my experiences working within some of the worlds best known bike races and a transition of more commercial photography within the bike industry, he briefly joined during a recent photoshoot with Trek in Copenhagen. The full article is now available to view (in Danish) in Velomore, Denmarks biggest dedicated cycling magazine.

Thanks to Thomas and the editorial team at Velomore for thinking of me and taking the time to hear my ramblings from within the bike industry.

It’s out now and available from all good newsagents throughout Europe or also online.

MBUK - The Ultimate Downhill

Back in September I was invited back to Crans Montana in Switzerland to undertake a very unique ride which for the most part, is not possible for the general public. Crans Montana is known for it’s easily accessible (relatively speaking) high alpine off piste riding opportunities however, there is one cherry that sits high up and largely out of reach for the majority of riders heading to this resort. Glacier du Plaine Morte, sitting at over 3000 meters with the weather station some 500 meters above that. The lack of oxygen and perilous un-groomed terrain mean that beyond a short wander around the gondola stations, to explore this landscape requires a qualified Swiss mountain guide!

With support from Crans Montana, we have Julian from Bike Valais guide us from the weather station down past the glacier and eventually to the bottom and by the Rhone river some 2500 meters below.

I was joined by journalist Matt Ray and collectively we made a full report of our day for MBUK which was published in their January issue, out now from most good newsagents or online.

A bucket list trip for me so big thanks to the MBUK editorial team for the trust as we stepped into the unknown and to Crans Montana for supporting the project.
